I offer full self-publishing packages for digital only, print only or digital and print books - full details below, but please read the important note that precedes them first.
When considering the costs of self-publishing, please remember that:
- a single ISBN (mandatory for your book) can cost you £93,
- cover design costs start at £150 upwards for a digital cover alone,
-formatting your book will either require specialist software, which you will have to purchase and master, or, professional book formatting will cost £100+.
The baseline cost of publishing just a digital version of your book in a professional way, therefore, will cost you at least £340, without even factoring in the time and knowledge needed to master uploading to Amazon KDP, Ingram Spark (+ another £50 set-up costs for IS), or your other chosen self-publishing platform...
Self-publishing is enabling, exciting and inspiring, but don't ever believe that it's free! However, the process can be affordable and painless and I offer the following packages to make it so...
Digital package £800
The digital only package includes:
1. Full file formatting for digital publication, including a bespoke copyright page.
2. A complete book cover design for digital publication.
3. Publication via I.M. Books, an independent imprint.
4. inclusion on Nielsens Pubweb, enabling bookstore retailers to find and purchase your book.
5. Setting up of your Amazon KDP account and uploading of your digital file, cover and book/pricing information.
6. A book 'blurb' especially written for your book and its Amazon page.
7. The right keywords and book categories identified as relevant to your book.
8. Your Amazon Author Central page set up (essential to be recognised as a 'serious' author) - either on .com or .co.uk, depending on where you are based.
Print book only £800
The print only package includes: 1. Full file formatting for print publication, including a bespoke copyright page.
2. A complete book cover design for print publication, including back cover 'blurb'.
3. An ISBN and publication via I.M. Books, an independent imprint.
4. Inclusion on Nielsens Pubweb, enabling bookstore retailers to find and purchase your book.
5. Setting up of your Amazon KDP account and uploading of your print file, cover and book/pricing information.
6. A book 'blurb' especially written for your book and its Amazon page.
7. The right keywords and book categories identified relevant to your book.
8. Your Amazon Author Central page set up (essential to be recognised as a 'serious' author) - either on .com or .co.uk, depending on where you are based.
Print+ digital £1500
The print and digital package includes: 1. Full file formatting for digital and print publication, including a bespoke copyright page.
2. A complete book cover design for both digital and print publication.
3. An ISBN for each publication and publication via I.M. Books, an independent imprint.
4. Inclusion on Nielsens' Pubweb, so bookstore retailers can find and purchase your book.
5. Setting up of your Amazon KDP account and uploading of your digital and print book files, covers and all book/pricing information.
6. A book 'blurb' especially written for your book and its Amazon page.
7. The right keywords and book categories identified relevant to your book.
8. Your Amazon Author Central page set up (essential to be recognised as a 'serious' author) - either on .com or .co.uk, depending on where you are based.
Illustrated/ + photos
Additional formatting is required to place images within text when preparing books for digital or print publication. If your book contains images, simply add the number of images it contains at £20 per image and the appropriate formatting adjustments will be made.
But, there are three more things to consider before you jump into a self-publishing package...
- All the packages quoted above are to publish a book that has already been fully edited and proofed. If your book requires editing or proofreading first, then please look at my editing page, as you will also need to have your book proofread to eliminate typos, spelling errors, grammatical issues and inconsistencies.
2. 'Serious' authors always have a 'shop window' other than their Amazon book page. This generally means an author website. The cost of a basic three-page site is £2500. Please look at my book marketing help page for more information.
3. Self-publishing your book means you also have to sell it. That involves establishing an independent mailing list, organising promotions and publicity and obtaining the reviews you need to encourage buyers.
